The Janesville Fife and Drum Corps was started as a project of the Janesville School District in 1975 to celebrate the Bicentennial of the United States in 1976. The Corps was so well received and the members so interested in playing the music, that the Corps members decided to keep it going. And it is going strong to this day. Over the years the music has matured from the 4 songs that the original Corps played to the 40 plus songs that the Corps plays today. The Janesville Fife and Drum Corps routinely performs at 30 plus events every year, including a Fourth of July trip that includes 9 parades in 3 days in 3 states. Janesville is the founding Corps of Wisconsin, and is proud to continue to introduce young people to the art of fife and drumming.
