The uniform worn by the Janesville Fife and Drum Corps is that worn by the First Virginia Regiment of 1754-1762. It is a uniform of the French and Indian War - 20 years prior to the American Revolution. It was the first unit commanded by a young Lieutenant Colonel George Washington, and he still wore this particular style of uniform until at least 1772, when he was shown wearing it in a portrait.

This, the earliest portrait of Washington, was painted in 1772 by Charles Willson Peale, and shows Washington in uniform as colonel of the First Virginia Regiment (source: Wikipedia)
